Brand Mark Design – Why your business needs a GREAT one

Aug 21, 2023 | All Articles, Graphic Design

At CFD, we love great brand mark design! We fundamentally believe that no brand is complete without one! And, every business should not have one in their branding package.

Why? Because, it’s your brands ultimate sidekick. A condensed version of your logo, usually an icon, symbol, design, lettering, colour or a combination of these. Used to support your business, be visually distinctive, memorable and powerful all on its own. It should be clever, captivating, simple and unique all at the same.

Brand marks are iconic (think the apple, the tick, the golden aches) sure these are huge companies but every business no matter how small can benefit from having a iconic symbol that grabs attention and is instantly recognised as being synonymous with your business.

They’re the heart and soul of your brand’s visual identity!

Why does your business need one?

👉 First of all you need a whole logo suite, not just ONE logo! Your suite should include multiple variations of your logo {primary, secondary, submark, icon, taglines} and each of these should be provided in both full colour {CMYK,RGB}, and reversed {White} options.

👉 a Brand mark {or Submark} is a more simplified version of your full logo, a way to condense your brand into simple and easy form that is still visually linked to your main logos. Your primary and secondary logos are not designed to be used absolutely everywhere. Submark logos are great used in social media, for example, as your profile picture or website favicon.

👉 Having a full logo suite with multiple variations is a clear sign of a strong brand. It says to your customers that you have invested in your business, that you pay attention to details, and that you are committed to growing a strong business and communicating consistency.

We love creating snazzy, smart and one-of-a-kind brand marks. Here are just a few of the ones we’ve designed for our clients.
